I’ve started a guerilla garden here. (The big green arrow points to the spot.) I’d love for people to join me in making it bloom (or grow veg, or herbs or sculpture or…). You can find posts about it in the Garage Garden category.
There’s a few things you need to know:
- Strictly speaking, this isn’t entirely legal. The plot does not belong to me, nor does the garage it’s next to. I think it’s a bit of council land, but I haven’t had it confirmed. It’s been a bit of a rubbish tip for years. I don’t want to cause any damage to anybody’s property, so I’m only putting in herbaceous plants that don’t have big root systems (no shrubs or trees). Please choose plants carefully.
- Please protect yourself! As well as the chicken poo (deliberate) and the inevitable poo hazard from cats and dogs, there is a lot of broken glass and rusty scrap metal in there. I would recommend some gloves and taking along some antibacterial hand wash just in case.
- This wedge-shaped plot is south facing, sunny at the wide end, and quite shady at the narrow end. The narrow end also has a lot of leylandii roots. Overall it’s pretty dry. I’ve put in some pansies (Tesco clearance, 30p a tray), violas and aquilegias (self-seeded in my garden) because I think they will be ok in dry shade, and they are vigorous self-seeders.
If you plant something, please let me know at email@example.com, so I can take some pics. (I won’t tell anyone whodunnit.)
This page will grow as I find or start new projects.
If you’ve found or created something, why not drop me a line or send some pics to firstname.lastname@example.org? I would love to hear from you.
